It is a a movement initiated in US against the police brutality and centuries old institutional discrimination against the people of colour.This movement started, when a video on social media went viral in which George flyod is kneeled by the white police officer for about 8 minutes causing George to die, because of suffocation.
As the video went viral protest started in the Minneapolis against police brutality and spread all across the US, Europe and some other countries, despite corona virus and voilating SOPs.
"History of discrimination in US against the blacks"
blacks were forcibly brought to the the US to work in the plantation as slaves when US expended westward ,the question spreading slavery to the the Western areas of the US lead to the civil war between the north and South, the the former wanted restrict slavery, while the letter wanted slavery in the the newly administeted States of the the union.
after the end of civil war, the Congress added thirteen amendment which ended slavery, fourteen amendment provided equality and respect of the race to all citizens and the 15 amendment enfranchised black citizens of the US.
despite constitutional equality of citizen in US blacks were segregated from the public institutions under the the jim crow laws and on the product of "separate but equal".
"Civil rights movement"
started in the end of 60s to end segregation, racial discrimination and achieve equality in all sphear of life under the leadership of Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm x and W E B Du buois.
Civil rights movement successfully ended segregation in the US but the institutional discrimination which had developed in the cause of four centuries could not be ended with just amendments and fewl acts.
Violence against the blacks is against international convention of the administration of all forms of Racial discrimination, signed in 1969, again the CEDAW 1979 because black women not only face racism but also sexism, against the UDHR which provides equality irrespective of sex,race,gender, language, religion, in article 2,and Cairo declaration of human Rights.
No any constitution allows the discrimination on the basis of race but convert institutionalized racism still exist in the US and some time appear on the the media.
